3 Facebook Advertising Strategies that are Proven to Succeed
by Mike Arce • December 16, 2015
When it comes to Facebook advertising, there are so many “do’s and don’ts” that it’s hard to figure out what actually works. That’s why data and results are so important—it has the power to either back up an advertising strategy that’s phenomenal, or show that one doesn’t work for a particular business.
Here are 3 Facebook advertising methods that are proven to succeed.
1. Split Test Your Facebook Advertising
There’s a ton that goes into a Facebook ad. The text, image, CTA, etc. all need to impress your audience so that they want to convert.
This is why split testing is a marketer’s best friend. Split testing allows you to run multiple ads at the same time with the same conversion goal to see which works best. As a result, your business saves money, gets more more customers, and you get the insight you need for your net big marketing move.
For example, in a split test by AdEspresso, they compared two different ads to see which image and CTA button would perform better:
In the end, they realized that the ad on the right had a much lower cost per conversion – by $1.637! This allowed AdEspresso to determine their most cost-effect, and higher ROI ad option.
2. Carousel Ads
Carousel ads are awesome. They capitalize on the visual aspect of Facebook, allowing marketers to display up to 5 images that people can click through in a single ad.
Here’s a beautiful example I love to use:
Not only does this type of ad format encourage people to engage by clicking through each image, it also gives the viewer more information than any other ad option! Businesses get to choose 5 images to display rather than 1. This is an awesome option to show off a product or service in more detail.
How do we know that this is proven to succeed for some businesses? Because carousel ads led to a 40% increase in conversions for one of our clients. See how!
3. Offers
Let’s start off with this: 50% of consumers make a purchase only when an offer or promotion is involved. And once those customers opt in to the offer or sale… 28% are actually inclined to spend even more. Those numbers are no joke.
So when you apply this to your Facebook ads, it makes businesses stand out. And, if you don’t include an offer in your ad, chances are consumers will find a competitor that does.
Here’s a great example from Beats by Dre that offers $60 Apple Music Gift Card, incorporates the carousel ad format, and mentions “Shop before it’s too late” in the text to stress that the offer is for a limited time only.
All these factors combine to create an intriguing Facebook campaign that’s set up for success.
Tying It All Together
So, the next time you head into Power Editor or Ads Manager, make sure you:
- Have an offer in mind that’ll catch people’s attentions
- Consider using carousel ads to display your business
- Create multiple versions of one ad to see which works best
From there, once your campaign is live, you’ll want to check it at least on a weekly basis to see if there’s room for optimization. And be sure you collect enough data when split testing to see which is best—wait a couple or few weeks so that there’s enough information to go off of to really tell which ad is the winner.
